Is there a difference between bad writing and writing that doesn't sell well?

/lit/ always shits on genre and YA authors, but they're generally the ones who sell the most copies. Could you really call them bad writers if their prose reaches that many people?

Don't we all write to be published?

Don't be a money mark. Books sell well because they respond to marketing trends and demographics. They're written, essentially, by committee, to appeal to the widest amount of people (i.e. those without sense or taste).
