I'm halfway through this and is one of the greatest things I've ever read. I'm surprised people don't talk about him more here, only latin american lit discussed I ever see is Bolaño, Borges or Rulfo.

Looks pretty interesting, the cover art is really nice too. Any other lesser known latin american writers you'd recommend OP?

I actually think the original cover is more fitting

If you liked it, check out Abaddon el exterminador/The Angel of Darkness. I consider it Sabato's masterpiece, and it's also my favorite novel.

I've only read El Túnel from Sábato. How does it compare?

It has lots of stuff in common: the theme of loneliness and inability to understand other people, extremely analytical main characters that take abnormal decisions following his apparently flawless logic, relationships full of despair and jealousy, etc. a fun fact is that the events on The Tunnel get mentioned on On Heroes and Tombs.

Apart from that, this one is a bigger work, way more ambitious and he adds more experimentation and surrealism to his style. In occasions the book surprisingly manages to be scary. I loved the Tunnel but I'm enjoying this one even more.
