Greeting and Salutations /lit/ !

I am starting to read some classic literature on my own for fun and self enrichment. Where or what should I read to help with interpreting/analyzing the books on my own for self study?

I'm trying my hand at being a neophyte autodidact. Thanks for any help you may provide!!
