I'm pretty sure that this novel is anti-sexual in a way that shows how sex much like a car accident is a gratuitous thing that whether or not we are involved in one we can't help but be drawn into it and keep our eyes off of it. Also it seem like a very satirical take on extreme fetishes, and to be honest some of the shit we see on the internets at this point in time he really was not far from truth.
