How often do you visit your local library?

Never, I don't read

Finally, after going through millions of post, a true patrician who "gets it" emerges.

You're right reading books is for suckers.

We study literature.

I'm scared to look up what the word frottage means. I hope it's some kind of french cottage cheese party type thing.

What the fuck!

There's a red head at my local library too.

Why do libraries attract so many homeless people and gingers?

I have this memory ingrained in my mind of when I was younger. I was in my local library once for reasons I cannot remember, but I do recall seeing these two Asian kids—at the time they would’ve been a good couple of years older than me. They were sitting in the basement area one afternoon playing some card game, it’s been probably fifteen to twenty so years by now, but I’m certain it was either Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh. They had their cards encased in these individual sleeves, their backpacks resting nearby. I didn’t interact with them in anyway whatsoever, I simply observed them for what would have been a handful of seconds. For some reason, I occasionally draw back on this brief moment whenever somebody brings up the word “library”. It’s a comfy feeling as well, very hard to describe. A mildly profound feeling that always seems to get me going for god knows what. Anyone else have seemingly random memories of events that seem completely unimportant, but has stayed with you all this time?

better than a crack den, maybe one day they'll read some of the books instead of browsing porn on the pay-per-hour computers

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Some of my earliest and most fond memories are like this. It almost feels like you can go back in time to that moment right? Like you can remember the smell of the room and the feel of the air? It's not just something about the place or the situation, there's something about your mindset that factors in as well I think. I have a few cute little stories like this but I don't want to blogpost. I enjoyed yours though anon :)

I have been banned from my local library for 8 years because of 'sexual harassment' after I got caught masturbating in the toilets.
It is really unfair - the cleaner 'heard something suspicious' and made the door open with aspecial keyy whilst I was masturbating. I tried to ease the situation by making a joke about how she (an old woman) had not found the fiction section and my penis was just that unbelievably big, she took it as harassment. fucking bitch.

Interesting, I hadn't thought of this but you're probably on to something. Your feelings are very much tagged with a particular moment as is your remembrance of other factors such as the scent of the room and visual stimuli.

Yes. They're free warm (or air conditioned) places you can hang out in for long periods of time. They come with books and computers, too, which help kill the time.

Violet, like the drab violet hospitals and waiting-rooms have on their blinds and carpets. I remember fingering one such blind by a water cooler while sneering at it for being such a poor colour choice. I was a grumpy toddler.
