Thinking of reading it next. What does /lit/ think of it?

I vaguely remember reading it about 8 years ago. I don't remember it being a particularly hard read - nowhere near as hard as Ulysses, Gravitys Rainbow etc. It was really good, definitely read it

The book is very thick, but very consuming, so you just devour the text not thinking about the outside world.

Thomas Mann was a turd burglar.

When you're done with Thomas Mann, I suggest moving onto Hermann Hesse. Glass Bead Game is definitely a fantastic work.

Otherwise Mann is a spectacular writer and the Magic Mountain is a fantastic book. I remember my dad leaving this book on the table near the shitter and I read it every time I got back from school-- never had I enjoyed sitting on the toilet more than when this book was new to me.

I also read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man on the shitter and a variety of older English classics. I liked my dad.

See , Turd Burglar

He didn't burgle the turds, though. He was only the narrator to the evacuation of them.

It's not hard to read. Being somewhat familiar with the various ideologies/philosophy from that time period will add some value to your reading, but it is super comfy without any background too.

Definitely take it up.

Perhaps you meant to say THICC

Why? English is so much more complicated that it should be rather otherwise.

I remember reading it many years ago ... I mostly recall it being the most boring and pointless book ever.
