I understand the assumption, we're all very conditioned to suppose that real inquiry is uncharacteristic of this board. I have no ulterior motive other than diologue.

If you want to start a dialogue at least put in the minimal effort of giving us your own perspective and ideas on the topic. This just smells like solving your homework.

I lean further towards an emersonian-esque self reliance, freedom in independence. I believe meritocracy in effect protects and fosters my strive for independence. I guess we could start out that I feel Sarte is assuming too much

This image is only tangentially related but this these statements really got under my skin when I read them for the first time:

>Nothing is better than suffering because: It's how God gets our attention/It's our only driving force
>Reactive love is the next best thing because: Jesus said so/It's complementary to our driving force
>Nothing is more transgressive than proactive love because: Destroying the origin of suffering is against God's will/Destroying the origin of suffering will cause immediate extinction

Individualism, whether in it's capitalist or psuedo-evolutionism form, ie "survival of the fittest", is a mistake because it acknowledges suffering as mandatory, as opposed to trying to end it once and for all. Individualism always falls back on to arguments of "realistic paths forward" and "saving the few over the many".

If we as a society give up on Utopia and Collectivism, then we might as well just kill ourselves. Propogation only causes eternal suffering, displaced from one generation to the next.

Seek Utopia or Extinction, please.

What if... We already know utopia is impossible because of human behavior? Yeh, individualism has its assumptions, but the only one you mentioned is due to neurology.

I want to be recognized as greater than everyone else.

>Suffering is bad waahhhh!
Suffering is a symptom of being alive, it IS mandatory. You just want to live in a fairy land where suffering is magically avoided, but you think we can achieve utopia without suffering. You are a stupid idealist
