It's a pretty remarkable work by an amazing stylist who has a few interesting observations stuck in amongst the grotesqueries.

It's also waaaay to eaily co-opted by frat boys who want to be Raoul Duke. Thompson could never have written that book if he'd been just another drugged out psycho. It's all much more calculated and deliberate than people sometimes give it credit for.
