Had a professor at uni that said you can't judge the literary merit of a book based on the canon or what is the most popular study in the field.

We studied The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Rewind (which is teen lit), The Heart is a Lonely Hunter...

But he didn't fit /lit/'s profile of the snobbish professor (beard, glasses)...however I do though...I'm not a professor though. (I do look down on Twilight though, that making me a douche).
