Libertarian socialism actually is retarded because it overlooks the fact that socialism, by definition, is a transition period between capitalism and Communism during which the proletariat uses the state to expropriate the property of the capitalist class and reappropriate it to the proletariat. The idea that a state founded on libertarian principles could accomplish this is prima facie absurd. Libertarian Communism is redundant because Communism follows from the appropriation of the means of production by the universal working class and entails the withering away of the state. There isn't actually a way to mix libertarianism and socialism, and Communism necessarily implies the absence of a state.
