il/lit/erates,

I'm looking for some works written in Spanish that are accessible for someone with intermediate skill in the language. Basically, anything I can use to improve my Spanish language skills while still enjoying a work of some literary merit. Poetry, fairy tales, anything works.

Borges you have already posted but if you haven't read him in Spanish yet go for it, very clear style,
From his pal Bioy Casares "La invencion de Morel" is great, haven't been impressed by anything else of his or from his protege Cortazar so far.
Have seen Fernando del Paso and Alvaro Mutis recommended but don't know how accessible they are.

Maybe try short stories, I've found they're easier to keep focused on even if the language is a bit beyond your level. Miguel Angel Asturias, Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, Juan Jose Arreola, Juan Carlos Onetti...

Jose Emilio Pacheco
Juan Rulfo
Carlos Ruiz Zafón
They're good and easy to get into
