Why are prosefags such insufferable tryhards?

>> No.9232661

I don't know. Why are they?

Because it's harder to distinguish yourself in prose and people think they have to have a distinguished style for people on the literary plane to care about what they're writing so their attempt at uniqueness is usually extremely transparent and as such tiresome to read through.

Did someone say prose-fag tryhards?

>> No.9232703

what the fuck even is prose??

Vollman doesn't fit here. He sounds like a less self-concerned DFW. People like that shouldn't be condemned for writing "tryhard prose" they should be condemned for writing prose which was so obviously "written". When I read DFW, I'm not impressed by his prose but wondering about his posture, how many encyclopedias he has open, and how many bandannas are in his drawer.

To be honest, I'm in the same boat. I've never searched for it, but I've also never seen a direct comparison (essentially the same statement) in good and bad prose. I'm also not sure if it's subjective.

Basically, I know what it refers to, but not what it means.
