If there are noir movies, are there noir books?

>> No.921838

that would be a horrible example of a "noir movie" OP.

Noir book? Of course...try Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me for size.

FUCKING NOIR! I guess this word is the flavor of the month.

ummm, no. just because you just learned it, doesn't mean it's being used any more or less

I believe you are mistaking the movie for yourself. That would be understandable, being a donkey nut sucker such as yourself.

Dark City would've been awesome if not for the opening dialogue explaining the whole plot of the fucking movie.

Being black and white doesn't make it noir.

I'm pretty sure several Noir films were adapted from novels....

>> No.921976

>>921965
There's a monologue by Kiefer Sutherland that basically ruins the mystery of the movie in the first five minutes of the theatrical cut. Other than that, it's just and story cuts (the hooker's daughter is cut out, the entire thing about Murdoch's fingerprints).

the literary equivalent of noir is "hard boiled", usually these are detective stories - Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, James M. Cain, James Ellroy, etc
I use those examples because their works brought to screen are, you guessed it, film-noir
