Painters go to school to learn to paint.
Musicians go to school to learn to music.
Writers should do the same.

Some painting programs kill off an spark of creativity or joy in the student, but this doesn't negate the legitimacy of painting school.

One things that happens with MFA's in writing, music, painting or whatever, there is a certain group of people who are really good at school and maybe really good at creating technically sound works that the professor and the class love, but they will never make great or even good art.
