Why do more people underline rather than bracket anything longer than a few words? Here's a page from The Sound and the Fury I picked up from my university. Not to mention this same person underlined so horrendously that they often crossed out words. Also, they used margin brackets so frequently that passages started to lose their power, and the few annotations they did leave amounted to: "Jesus Christ," "Is this guy for real," and "this fuck (Jason) doesn't even love his mother."
