Scientists used to be philosophers too until very recently, so yes. When you think of a Newton he's a philosopher too.

In all ages their are societies which prosper to the degree where some (if not most) of their people no longer have to toil in common labor. This gives room and time for thinkers. Greece just happened to be the first of these civilizations that we have record of.

Aristophanes conflated Socrates with both the physiologoi and the sophists, both of which were anathema to his philosophy. Aristophanes had no idea what Socrates was about.

Some of them, along with people that excelled in their respective fields. Also, as >>9117439 pointed out, Newton, Galileo and many others considered themselves philosophers. And even now after the split between natural science and philosophy, a lot of philosophers are prominent figures in other fields of social sciences like linguistics or anthropology.

I consider Aristotle to be the most brilliant man to have ever lived, in part because of his contribution to natural sciences.

Socrates probably didn't care at all. Plato was butthurt.

It's really easy to be a genius when nothing has been discovered yet.

I mean the Art of War is stuff like "surprise them" and "fire is scary"

They've got virgin soil to plant their ideas in, it's an extremely low bar.

You are brain dead. The scope of human knowledge at that time rendered them far more ignorant of the workings of the world, than that of the average grade schooler in our time. They were working with practically fucking nothing.

Please flush yourself down the toilet.

No, because after the 17th century everyone in WEstern Civilization knew of all the great philosophers of history (all their most poignant points poignantly packaged after distilled) so that every succ-sessive generation that follows is then a priori defacto vis a vis 'the most intelligente people to have ever existed', from doctors to lawyers to mechanics, all the greats which followed absorbed anything of value from the past philosophers into the zeigeist and culture (the easly digestable idealogical/aesthetic pills of the society)

Not. Any. More. And they weren't to begin with. But I'd say Nietzsche was one of the greatest geniuses before.
