Comfy neighbourhood bookstore thread? Comfy neighbourhood bookstore thread.

>> No.9105871

I work at an antique bookstore, it's pretty comfy.
It's in an old wooden house and the whole place is just crammed full of books. They spill out of shelves, lie in piles on every available surface and form 3 feet high walls around isolated workstations practically buried in the sea of them. There's a narrow path that cuts through the store (which is 3 stories) and anytime you meet someone going the other way someone has to back up or you're gonna knock a whole pile over. Even the bathroom is crammed full of them.

It's pretty great, but I don't get much of a chance to read there since it's usually pretty busy.

You all suck at this. If you're gonna post comfy bookstores, post the addresses so anons can find them too.

Unfortunately, I don't know any comfy bookstores, but for any krauts out there, the Oxfam (Fürstenfelder Str. 7 Marineplatz) is a pretty great place to buy books. It's small, but the books are cheap and there's even an assortment of antique books.

>tfw best area in the world for used books.

In between these red dots are 10-20 small book stores run by older men and their kids where treasures abound.

My brother is an accountant, and I have extra funds. He told me his office calls shit like that "hobby-losses"

My dream is to have something like that, dark, with private booths and hardwood builtins everywhere, selling boutique coffees rotating monthly, pourover only, and wine in the evening. Really limited menu, like omlettes and fruit in the morning and wine and cheese and bread and soup in the evening, selling award winners and recently reviewed in NYRB, PRB, LRB type /lit/ as well as used books I pick up on the cheap via lots. I want the center part to have a fireplace and some really comfy old chairs, a place for people to decompress after work or find some quiet.

And of course USB jacks and highspeed wireless.

I live in a NH mountain town near a ski resort, and there are a few empty store fronts.

Sweet, had no idea there was a shop like this in Inverness. I'm from Aberdeen originally, will try to find an excuse to go up north at some point when I'm back home.

Edinburgh has several comfy bookshops, the best of which is just called "Edinburgh Books". Next to the strip clubs and fast food joints in West Port.
