Once again, the /lit/ Zine Writers Guild is back and looking for OC fiction or poetry submissions from anon to be published in it’s upcoming 7th issue. Aside from blatant hate literature and child pornography, the ZWG is willing to consider accepting just about anything submitted to us.

If you wish to submit a piece, e-mail us at zinewritersguild@gmail.com

To make things easier for us, please mention in your e-mail the submitted piece title, your desired author pseudonym, and whether the piece is a fiction or poetry entry. The preferred electronic format is .doc

Some back-story: The Zine Writers Guild is a non-profit group formed from back in the early days of /lit/. We operate as a council of five editors, and are dedicated to producing a monthly zine aimed at showcasing the best written content on 4chan. Our distribution page is http://zwg.wildwestwaffles.com/ , and our wiki is http://zinewritersguild.wikia.com/wiki//lit/%27s_Zine_Writers_Guild_Wiki (Somewhat outdated)

Thanks for your time

>> No.904018

It hasn't happened yet, and it never will happen. Technically you have copyright on your creations naturally. We don't sell the zine for profit, so we can't make any kind of money off a submission

Yup, we're here for that reason exactly

>[We] are dedicated to producing a monthly zine aimed at showcasing the best written content on 4chan.

So have you guys started a selection process or are you still just accepting everything? 'Cause this statement seems at odds with:

>Aside from blatant hate literature and child pornography, the ZWG is willing to consider accepting just about anything submitted to us.

>> No.904096

We do not cut submissions unless they are
A) full of typos and impossible to understand
B) Hate literature / Child Porn

The goal of the ZWG is to encourage developing writers and allow them to grow, not discourage them. Hardline cutting policy would simply not work to achieve this

>> No.904100

>>904092
free speech=child prawns...actually you know what i rescind the statement. I suppose if it is just writing then everything should be accepted.

>> No.904102

What would you say if I told you I could get Stephen fucking King to write a story for Zine?

>> No.904107

Reading through the wiki, it says that you guys prefer 3000 words or less. All of my fiction that I'm willing to submit is over 3000 words, some going into 5000-6000; would you still accept those?

>> No.904118

>>904107
No.

>> No.904124

>>904096
So than to say you are showcasing the "best written content on 4chan" is a bit misleading considering you are accepting nearly anything a person might bother submitting. I am familiar with your submission policies, just wanted to clear this up.

>>904100
Silly, I wasn't referring to the child porn/hate lit portion I was trying to emphasize the fact that the zine would accept ALL works besides that. I was focusing on the lack of selectivity not complaining that the best works of 4chan are hateful for child porn.

>> No.904127

>>904102
That would be incredible

I would see to it that both you and Mr. King be permanently placed in the “special thanks” section of the zine, mail off full-color bound printouts of the zine to both of you and Mr. King, and give you my most heartfelt thanks.

If you have other requests, name them.

>> No.904129

>>904107
Yes, we do

standard practice is to split them up into "serial" submissions

>> No.904130

>>904124
Ah, I was mistaken and yes it is pretty clear now. I too was under the impression that perhaps it was a bit more selective, although I can't say I would favor that. Prestige is illusory.

>> No.904136

I need to start reading ZWG. I think this is such a great idea. I wish other boards would do this (i.e. /mu/) instead of chasing people away.

>> No.904142

>dedicated to producing a monthly zine aimed at showcasing the best written content on 4chan.

Also gaia. You can't forget gaia.

Whatever happened to renaming it into "/lit/ter" btw?

>> No.904143

>>904129
So should I cut them half and send two different emails or send the whole thing and let you guys cut it in half?

>> No.904148

>>904130
I am not so worried about the Prestige of submitting and presenting a work in a selective zine but as a reader I certainly find it frustrating to have to wade through pools of turd to find something worthwhile.

To the zine editors:
It would be nice if you released an "editor's choice" edition of the zine or some through some other means were able to make it easier on the readers to find the quality stuff (because lets be honest, most of the works submitted are not exactly stellar). Making the zine a free-for-all is great for the content creators but less than ideal for consumers.

>> No.904150

>>904143
No need to split it up, you can send it to us in one e-mail. If you have an ideal break point, just mention it so we can take note

>> No.904156

>>904127
I'll definitely pass word on to him. He's fairly easy going about the whole e-mag thing, and I think odds are he'll do it. I doubt he'll have too many demands. You should get word from him within the week.

>> No.904167

>>904148
Hmm, I'd been considering an idea like that for some time now. A year-end "best of 2010" zine was what I was thinking. I'd genuinely like to award authors being printed in it with a monetary sum of a sort... but money is a very touchy issue for the zine right now, so it's hard to tell if that would ever turn out.

I don't think money would be the way to go, maybe just a printed hard-copy sent to the authors. That would be cool.

As far as the "best of" idea, I think a bi-annual edition would work better than an annual due to the (from what I can tell) volume of work the zine has built up. A bi-annual addition would also allow for two smaller, but more inclusive, editions than a single annual edition could, not to mention releasing it annually would require years of keeping up the project for more than one run.

>> No.904199

>>904174
Yes, we are all idiots, and you clearly are not, so why not leave us alone and let us indulge ourselves in this little fantasy?
And why would you bump this thread if you are so against its content? Is it so important that the world see your disapproval?

>> No.904205

>>904189
Hmm, you've got a good point there. Bi-annual sounds like a much more practical way of getting things done, and hard-cover printouts keeps the whole thing from being a money issue. I'm going to seriously suggest this... chances are 4chan will see it in the near future

Actually all five of you are graphic design students, dedicated to trolling people with a concept of aesthetics in the printed word, such as justification of text, non-centred body text, adequate printing margins (flush, bleed, cut), adequate visual margins (paragraph width).

You've been told
and told
and told
and told
about white space.

It is like someone needs to force a poem on you formatted like that god awful "I fucked my girlfriend's farts out to Gilgamesh" "epic" designed specifically to break your formatting and type setting rules.

How many submissions do you get a month usually? Not enough to complete the Zine? Last month's I read like...4-5 of the stories, and they were pretty good. I'm thinking about sending something in, but I have to edit it.
