Don't mind me, just being the most important philosopher of the 20th century.

Actually he may not, according to the rules of /lit/.

Not OP...do you like Zizek? Had to read him in a philosophy class...thought he was interesting and out there...but I think he might actually be insane.

Zizek is great at trolling too.

He is a troll...i thought so too...his philosophy is just wordy and long....i can't really find the substance in it.

Zizek is apparently writing a 1,000+ page megabook on Hegel. He says it will be his life's work. I kinda trust him on this one, since the guy obviously loves his Hegel. I think Zizek gets a bad rap for his theatrics and showmanship, but there's a serious scholar underneath all that.

>> No.903414

>>903412
The problem is that there's about one person on /lit/ that is capable of appreciating his serious scholarship. And you're me.

Lacan is only a small part of what Zizek does.

Personally I think he makes good critiques, but has relatively few intriguing new ideas. He's good for the spark notes of Hegel and Derrida, but has little to offer by himself.

I love Zizek because he understands Wagner. But yeah, he is crazy.

Besides, it's not like you've read any Lacan material to actually critique him in the first place.

Because anyone who thinks it's crap cannot possibly have read him, right? You Frankfurt School people are completely fucking bananas.

Because if you'd read him you would be dismissing him on an argumentative basis.

Marx, the giant of sociology, the prophet of the masses, the philosopher of the working man.

Some of the most important contributions of philosophy since Immanuel Kant.

Prior to Marx, it was Kant. Prior to Kant, it was Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates.

This woman's contributions, if you can call them that, include influencing Alan Greenspan. The contribution of the aforementioned men include creating a perspective to understand human society, understanding reason, and laying the foundations of western civilization.

You don't need to. We'd just like to see an actual argument instead of tired "Pick one" posts. Besides, I have a feeling you're the sort that values logical arguments, so let's see that enthusiasm at work!
