Any writers out there enjoy listening to music while they work. If so, what do you usually play?

>> No.8988964

So, those grapes are clearly fake.

>> No.8988973

Usually 80's pop and dad rock desu

Shit like Hall and Oates, Boston, Meatloaf, Madonna, and Billy Idol.

I never listen to music like that at any other occasion, though.

Mostly Jazz stuff like Bill Evans and Errol Garner, but I like Jazz regardless. Folk, sometimes.

Bach

Or eat fruit? Anyone like to eat fruit while they write?

for the past four months ive been eating a lot of weed, listening to synthwave, and writing a cyberpunk novel.

Very interesting, I am not familiar with synthwave. Do you find it helps with your chosen genre?

>> No.8989038

Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Metal, except I don't listen to anything with lyrics. Having words going through my head while I try to read or write is distracting.

It really depends on the mood i need to be in.
Sometimes Bach's Goldberg variations are excellent, but sometimes i need something darker like some Howard Shore soundtracks or some moody stuff like Fennesz

True, but he is just so suited to being relegated to background music when reading or working.

>entry-level.
Why is this still used as a critique? Most classics in any media are entry-level.

I only usually listen to ambient, drone or something similar, like Morton Feldman.

>> No.8989526

Drone, ambient, electronica. Stars of the Lid, Brian Eno, A Winged Victory For the Sullen, Nils Frahm, Popol Vuh, Sigur Ros, Earth, Tangerine Dream, Boards of Canada, so on. I can't listen to anything too busy.

entry-level is usually top tier, e.g. dfw
