I thought Reddit being pleb was a meme. I was wrong.

The person doesn't even follow their own rules. They ask for a singular "book" in their topic, and then proceed to say that they would forget reading an entire series.

This just hurts to read. There was an un-ironic mention of Artemis Fowl. 75% of the books are YA or lower. The rest are either extremely normie tier fantasy or high school English class books. I doubt most of these people have read a book since they left high school.

I had to scroll a while until I found Memehiker's Guide to the Phallusy, which I guess would be the silver lining to this plebeian cloud.

Their choices are so uniform and predictable. It's like they don't have souls or individual personalities.

>This for me too. I will never forget the feeling I had reading The Gunslinger for the first time.
I was 32, and had previously been a snob about Stephen King, refusing to read him because "populist commercial hack" even though I had never read anything he'd written. But for some reason I grabbed The Gunslinger and Nightmares and Dreamscapes.
Once I read the story Dollans Cadillac, I was hooked. I now own every King book except Cycle of the Werewolf, and I read the Dark Tower at least once a year. That was 9 years ago. I not only got to binge read Stephen King up to 2006 in a few months, I also learned a valuable lesson about being a snobby shit head.
I read The Gunslinger in a single sitting. No breaks, on a cold, stormy night, in front of a roaring fire. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
The Man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed...

Everyone has one or two pleb books that they actually like but the problem is when garbage is all you ever read. If you spend a little time on r/books you'll find that they react angrily every time someone brings up "real literature." Not only do they dislike authors like Conrad or Joyce or Proust, but they dislike anyone who even reads those books. For some reason they view more challenging works as a threat, or some sort of personal reproach, and they respond in kind. That's what disgusts me about reddit, the echo chamber effect. I hate those sycophantic little dweebs.

Always good to read threads like that once in a while to accept the fact that this is the taste of most people who read books.

>well at least they are reading!
Fuck off.

Average people read average or below average books. You're surprised?

Read garbage lit over and over instead of the enormous amount of good lit yet to be read. How inspiring.

>that guy fellating Stephen King

>That sounds excellent. That story is so fucking creepy, I wish he'd write another story following on, maybe about finding more survivors and losing them all one by one to madness and eyeball searing terror due to malevolent and increasingly intelligent things in the mist. Maybe stumbling onto the site of the experiment.
>Anything really.
>Hell, I wish King would do nothing but write for the rest of time.

This guy sounds like he's literally masturbating as he's typing this.

4chan has a hivemind, but the few dissenting opinions don't get downvoted until they essentially disappear. I cant say anything I want within the guidelines of any given board and, at worst, I'll get a million angry (You)s, drawing attention to my post.
