But it does have a strong case for best book of that year. However, I saw it as mocking Europe much more than attacking Islam. Islam in Soumission is portrayed as a powerful, unifying, revivifying force that takes a collapsing France and EU and makes it stronger. It's the sad-sack white Europeans who have no purpose in their lives and latch onto Islam because it at least has meaning (and sex) that are the real target.
