Can /lit/ suggest me some philosophers who teach altruism and compassion as a way to live life, a tool for happiness, etc?

Something along those lines.

So far I've only really found The Art of Happiness by Dalai Lama that somewhat touches this subject positively.

The Stoics in one sense
> All people are manifestations of the one universal spirit and should, according to the Stoics, live in brotherly love and readily help one another. In the Discourses, Epictetus comments on man's relationship with the world: "Each human being is primarily a citizen of his own commonwealth; but he is also a member of the great city of gods and men, whereof the city political is only a copy."

The only thing is they believe emotion (such as exuberant happiness) should be suppressed to one's sense of duty, so I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

Also Philosophers of forgiveness of others, not focusing on oneself.

I was hoping to go in the opposite direction and express altruism, compassion, forgiveness; all these things for other, not focusing on myself. I'm trying to move away from as much suppression.
