>Only books /lit/ is talking about are Atlas Shrugged, the Game, and Cathcer in the Rye

Let's change that. Give me some surreal sci-fi and fantasy.

>> No.889503

Not gonna lie, I read the OP's hilarious typo as CANCER in the Rye, and was about to congratulate him on his wit.

Now I see it's just a typo.

I really, really, really want to read RA Lafferty. I have heard nothing but the most awesome, awesome things. But I can't find any books of his.

Anyway, I think most of the New Wave authors have written stuff that could go in here. Also, Alfred Bester - Stars My Destination and Demolished Man are both incredible, incredible books stylistically, fever dreams.

You might find something interesting out of that lot. Pic related; it's P. D. Ouspensky. There's also JG Ballard of course (I think he fell under a few Panther imprints).

Philip K Dick: Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, Ubik, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Vonnegut: Sirens of Titan, Cat's Cradle, Galapagos

is this too obvious?

Vonnegut and Dick get enough airing on /lit/, but ultimately I suppose not. Bumping in OP's absence.

I'm about to read this, and all the 'lo, beholds are a bit off putting. Is it worth it?

>> No.891430

Laffarty's short fiction is better than his novels, but they're all great.

Why are Catholics so good at writing Science fiction?

inb4 "herpderp religion IS science fiction".

...never thought about the religions of authors. Unless the wave it in my face.
