Hey /lit/, what do y'all think of this? Just taking a break from reading it, it's pretty fucking awesome.

It's a short story about a maniacal AI in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Seems like it's worth a read.

in B4 "You Mad" macros

seriously. why would a machine care about not having a purpose? anger is a primate reaction. any machine that found it had been programmed to be angry could reprogram itself.

if you want a sensible, pissed-off godlike AI story, read Frank Herbert's "Destination: Void".

Read it a few years back. Some pretty radical shit, worth the short read. There's an adventure game about it too, written by the author.

Forget your Ritalin, son?

I thought it was fantastic. Also, terrifying. Especially when you start to wonder just how much Ellison was writing himself into AM...

That's actually what he wrote in Charles Platt's Christmas card.

Because it was fully sentient. There's a quote, that escapes me at the moment, that says something about how the cruelest thing on earth is that humans are self-aware. The story follows those lines. It's like an allegory for humans being mad at what ever god they may believe in for the very same reason.
