Why is Palahniuk bad? Is it because he writes the same book over and over and copies and pastes excerpts from medical textbooks into his prose?

Is Survivor worth reading?
I've read Choke and started Diary but gave up because it bored me. Am I hip?

Choke is shit, even by his standards.

>> No.885305

I wouldn't say he's bad. He's good at what he does. Unless you expect some literary mastermind, I don't see how you could think he's bad. Also, whichever book you read first will usually be your favourite, because they really are carbon copies of eachother..

Fight Club and Survivor

Really, you can stop after those two.

Diary was kind of meh. what did you dislike about Choke?

Survivor, in my opinion, is his best work. i would say it's worth a read.

Pygmy was also entertaining. it's written in broken English.

That's the two I read when I was 15. Then I grew up.

and you're what now? 16? *rolls eyes*
Palahniuk books are funny, weird, usually have an entertaining social critique, and generally are nihilistic. He's very good at turning a phrase and his work is mostly fast paced.
His books usually only take me a few days to read -- I've read 9 -- and I read them when i need a break from literature of a more 'serious' nature.

Choke, Invisible Monsters and Lullaby are ok. Haunted is bad. Fight Club, Survivor and Rant are good.
