Quite bad. His battles are as bad as they get. Wouldn't say there are anime characters in it, more like super hero characters. But yeah, dull and stupid. There is one half decent siege in the book, but if you're into those, just go with Legend from Gemmell. Superior in every way.

Antalya's resorts but Pamuk opened for me another Turkey, more interesting and deeper. No doubt many things are difficult to understand for foregners in his books but nevertheless they make a strong impression.
As to SNOW it looks like Russian literature has influeced on Pamuk: he mantioned Turgenev in the book, Ka is like Dr Zhivago with his poems and those students of religious school are like Alyosha Karamazov this their talks about God.
