Flying to Kuwait in a few days, need some advice - can I bring "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini with me? I heard great things about it, and I think it would be fun to read in the Middle East, IF I won't get into trouble for having it with me...

For the sake of argument let's call me retarded, and maybe give me a straight answer? I read that the book was banned on the Kuwait Book Fair

yeah no one reads here anyway

The author rapes a little boy as Oscar bait sometime in the first few chapters. They fly some kites. That's it.

It's an erotic novel about Afghan tea boys

A thousand splendid Suns is way better.
Kite is not nearly as exciting, but I remember enjoying Hosseini's imagery.

As for whether or not to bring it, you are probably retarded.

It's shit.
The last scene is hilarious.
Grown ass dude flies his kite around and cuts the strings of the other kids' kites like a fucking manchild. It's meant to be some great cathartic end to his character arc but he's the only one there with any context so it's just stupid.
It's a fucking drag don't waste your time.
