I need a recommendation /lit/

gf is final year Russian student and has a pretty extensive knowledge of Russian literature, something that I don't really know that much about. Christmas is coming up and I want to get her some really good but obscure Russian literature, but I don't really know where to start.

Any ideas?

If you have acess to people in russia you can take any other girl here, foreigners in russia have many attention by russian girl and dont need stop in only one girl from here. All tan whores you know it. Foreignes in russia have special respect. It's my main recommendation to you.

You can read in russian? Many good obscure literature have only in russian language

I'm not really trying to impress her, just think it would be a nice gesture

>>8747343

How obscure? Name some lesser-known Russian lit she owns or talks about

>> No.8747369

Why less-known? Get her a nice, hardcover copy of Brothers Karamazov or the-like. Maybe Bely's Petersburg if you want something a bit different. But stick to the classics unless you actually know what she likes. No student of Russian will toss out a quality edition of War and Peace.

>> No.8747374

>>8747369
In Russian, obviously. Get her a book with the text in RUSSIAN.

That's a good shout. I mean, I know a couple of things she likes, like Anna Achmatova and Yevgeny Zamyatin, don't think she thinks much of Dosty

Dostoyevsky isn't more prominent in the Russian literary consciousness because of decades of Soviet hegemony, which opposed him because of his opposition to its eventual ascendancy. Fortunately the rest of the world recognized his merits

All the trolls aside, OP, you can't go wrong with:

https://www.amazon.com/New-Soviet-Fiction-Sixteen-Stories/dp/0896598810

16 Soviet story writers catching the exact moment it all fell down. Tatianna Tolstaya is the giant of the bunch. Yes, she's related. Fire and Dust will be anthologized for decades. She'll appreciate owning this.

Definitely Bely's Petersburg

Recently read a collection of young russian authors in german, so no idea if you'd ever find those in english but I liked Alissa Ganiyeva,Valeri Pecheykin and Polina Klyukina the most. Other than that, something by Venedikt Yerofeev or Limonov wouldn't hurt either
