Ok, /lit/. Recommendation time. I'm going on a long ass drive and need an audiobook. I've never listened to one before, but some authors I like to read include:

David Foster Wallace
Vladimir Nabokov
John Barth
Donald Barthelme
Thomas Pynchon

And I always have a non-fiction itch worth scratching. Any ideas? Pic unrelated.

The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen is a killer book you might like, but the audiobook is abridged

try twilight or harry potter

You seem to enjoy postmodernism. If you can handle a bit of science fiction, I'd suggest the BBC radio productions of Neuromancer and Burning Chrome by William Gibson. Also, the New Yorker's podcast regularly features modern short fiction. Get it: it's free.

For non-fiction, look into the Very Short Introductions series. I'd particularly recommend Cold War: a Very Short Introduction if care about that historical period at all.

I definitely enjoy post-modernism (though I don't know how all of it can translate to an audiobook). I'll check this stuff out.

Look into radio dramas, too (the BBC's Neuromancer I've recommended is one). They are an interesting alternative to the simple a-book-being-read-aloud concept of audiobooks and you might well get hooked on the "theatre of the mind".

Oh fuck. I doubt it would make understanding Finnegan's Wake any easier.

It's Finnegans Wake. This is /lit/, get it right.

Postcolonialism: A Very Short Introduction, because of its story-like writing, is also a very good audio book.

Sorry, my wrong. I guess Joyce wanted to have multiple Finnegans after all.

You might like Cormac McCarthy, based on your booklist. I'm sure audiobooks of The Road will be all over the place, but try to find Blood Meridian instead if you can, which is vastly superior.
