Hey /lit/, I've been racking my brain and I can't think of the right word for this. I've tried looking on google and asking people but they couldn't give it to me either.

What is it called when the conflict or problem is solved in a semingly miraculous or unrealistic way in a story?

For example, say two wizards are fighting, but one wizard wins and everything goes right after using one simple move that is really easy to do.

What is that called?

I think you would be talking about a Deus Ex Machina

Either these or simply contrived

Thank you, yes that was what I was looking for.

Like others said, your description sounds like a Deus Ex Machina or a contrivance.

But your example makes me think "cheap."
