Is there a word for excessive, obnoxious laughter? Like, within a group of people.

I don't know whether I'm becoming a miserable prick and noticing it for the first time or if the social media 'look at me and what a good time I'm having' phenomenon has run away with itself, but I'm increasingly recognizing people laughing loud and obnoxiously over stupid shit. Not even drunk, which I could understand.

This is all good, thanks. I was more thinking about the collective action of a group of people finding trivial things funny and laughing excessively about them though.

Perhaps a word doesn't exist for it yet, but I think maybe there should be.

Again, I don't know whether this has always existed (outside of intoxication) or I'm just becoming an asshole.

I mean it's pretty easy to modify cackle so it applies to a group.

"A cackling group"

I don't think a new word is wanting

What about that moment when someone says "That's so funny." but isn't laughing. And its usually about some gossip shit. Burns right down to my core. on so many levels.

Din is always a good word to describe a sort of cacophonous gathering of voices or sounds. Applying some sort if modifier to make it clear that it's about laughing could prove useful.

the sound of laughter disgusts me. When it's not an obnoxious halfwit braying right in my fucking ear or a clutch of loathsome roastwhores fake-surpressed-laughing at outgroupers it's the shameful sound of me, the parts of me I hate most, faking it. It would be one thing if I was doing it for a good reason, or had some hope of succeeding. Why do I shuck and jive for the pleasure of people I can't stand? For their approval? I know damn well that's worthless to me. So why?

I'm not sure I understand. What you're describing sounds familiar, but I'm having trouble visualizing it.

Can you give an example of when this happens, and how it upsets you?

Nah. I understand what OP is getting at. I agree OP that it is a phenomena born of social media attention whoring.
It's something like this:
>Vine/Twitter/short video posted to Vine/Twitter/etc
>features a bunch of "friends" together in a nice house or at something like a starbucks
>often these people aren't actually friends, but a group of social media celebrities/personalities who create collab videos together to gain more followers and e-fame
>if the humorous event in question comes "naturally" from one of the e-celebs, it's almost certainly staged
>ex. someone tripping and extravagantly falling, or someone saying something O U T R A G E O U S ! !!!
>if the humorous event isn't staged, it's some stupid shit that you and your friends irl might chuckle at for a minute and then move on
>but the group of e-celebs goes ABSOLUTELY BANANAS, HAHAHAHA, OMG, THAT WAS SOOOO CRAZY!!!! WOW~ LOOK AT HOW MUCH FUN WE HAVE TOGETHER, WE'RE ALL FRIENDS HERE AND WE JUST LAUGH AND HAVE FUNNY, ZANY LIVES!

It doesn't make me mad, but it feels completely fake, hollow, and shallow.....because it is completely fake and shallow.
