Which books should I read to become smarter, /lit/? I feel like reading fiction books gives me nothing. What are some books that really make you think?

read whatever the fuck you want man, if you're looking for "official lit nerd approved literature" look for the /lit/ starter guide on the wiki as a starting point.

Horseshit.

If it matters, Bloom's Western Canon and the Harvard Classics list are good starting points, but eventually you should start seeking out what means something to you.

Alternately, you could find a topic you are interested in, and use either wikipedias further reading or oxfordbibliographies suggestions to master that topic, and then move on to another topic. Or you could find a modern scholar on a topic, take their book out of the library, and find the book they cite the most.
