I had birthday dinner with my parents and little sister earlier, then we walked around the botanical gardens in my city for a few hours.

I'm just relaxing the rest of the night--my birthday's actually tomorrow and I've got a lot of stuff planned, so tonight is for resting.

to make it /lit/-related here's the books I got for my birthday:

>The Book of Imaginary Beings by Borges
>Dark Spring by Unica Zurn
>Pybrac by Pierre Louys (boy was I lucky the store had it shrink-wrapped, didn't realize it had the dirty illustrations too)

I'm at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino with my parents. None of us really feel compelled to drink or gamble at the moment, so I'm engaged in a slow conversation about making contemporary versions of illuminated manuscripts, browsing /lit/, and drinking cheap beer from the circle bar. For the past 18 months, it seems like all my friends unanimously decided to start acting like 35 year-olds. Every time I text my friends, and if im lucky enough for them to answer, its something to the effect of
>Nah gonna chill home and play vidya and watch Netflix/Crunchyroll/tonight, I'm too tired/high to hang out lol

My friends are lame faggots and I have no idea how to make new ones.

I'm not him, I'm just explaining what he probably felt in that moment. People going on about other people can be very alienating,

Mentioning social events as they effect oneself is perfectly fine, but going on about how your 9th best friend's cousin got accepted into community college is just filler.

When you're like me and have had a speech impediment for your entire life, you really learn to appreciate a good conversations versus a very hollow one. If I am going to spend with time with somebody, I want to hear about them and not some stranger that they know.

Little events and office politics certainly are easy to speak on, but it's very impersonal, I'd rather be in silence, but that might just because I'm better with romantic relationships than 'buddy' relationships, my closest friend is my wife after all.
>>8520853
Frankly, I've seen that people can really enjoy some rhetoric about 'tough subjects' as long as its all friendly.

Try something moderate out, starting a conversation out with a good subject is just as important as taking part in one.
