So is it just an "American History Meme" or is this an actual good read?

I don't know I have never read it.

I haven't read it either, so I wouldn't know.

It is interesting, we had to read an excerpt from it today in class. It has me interested.

Mainly just about an expose to the meat industry, it was very popular and very controversial in the late 1900's. And I think it still lives up to it today.

It's the plight of the lower class set in the Chicago meat packing industry. It's not bad but if you read it expecting only critiques of old food processing practices you'll be disappointed with most of it.

I really enjoyed this book back in high school, moreso than Grapes of Wrath. Would read again.
