The more I write the more I think solid writing is about how much you write. If I write ten pages a day, one or two are good, one more is passable and the rest is shit. I think mass might be the number one reason for good writing. Excellent writing either needs more practice or genius, not sure yet.

Force yourself to do canned writing exercises and read voraciously when you're not inspired. You should still be progressing in the mechanics of form even if you don't have some amazing idea.
