Jesus Christ, it's an out-of-context quote. What the fuck do you expect? The person who says this is a character in a book and it not only makes more sense in context, but the character is far from a mouthpiece for Hemingway. I fucking hate this shit where people quote from authors' books then simply attribute it to the author, taking it totally out of context, as if Alyosha or Razumihin or Svidrigailov were Dostoyevsky themselves.
