It's like I'm really reading the Bible. Cool story about hating allegory, bro.

>> No.844988

Except it's mostly written by Christopher. Everything he edited has sucked.

>> No.845014

That book was just poor.

>> No.845015

Needs more names

I read it in like 7th grade after I finished LOTR. All I remember is that it was hopelessly boring.

Just like ALL of Tokens work then. I tried to read Fellowship and almost fell alseep.

That's a compliment by the way....

The only one I made it thru was The Hobbit.

This. Chrisopher had none of his fathers charm. It's dry academic style writing and i'm fine with reading that in academia or at work, but not for enjoyment. Pale imitation of his father who couldn't be bothered to fins his own career.

This and the tales of numenor are the only Tolkien books I cold bear. I've yet to get more than a few pages into the Hobbit or LotR without yawning and putting them down.

>> No.845173

I have this book sitting here and really can't be bothered to read it. I bought it though, so MUST SLOG THROUGH.

>> No.845177

I could understand LOTR. That's a big-boy book for adults, and maybe you're not ready for that.

But the Hobbit is simply delightful. How can you even find that boring, I just do NOT even understand.

I bought it a year ago and got to I think page 30. Fucking book.

Yeah, I got it last December and it's still sitting there.

The first time through, its okay. On every third page you forget everything you read two pages before it.

>> No.847339

Fun fact:
Tolkien hasn't written a female character who wasn't the most beautiful girl ever or a male character who wasn't tall (except hobbits). Silmarillion probably had two dozen women who were described being "the most beautiful woman who ever was or will be."

>> No.847345

>>847339
Wow. I was so young, eagerly eating up anything Tolkien's pen had ever touched, that I didn't catch that. Now that I think of it, I can't name a single female who wasn't pretty. I guess we know that women are only good for one thing in Tolkien's world too, eh?

I totally killed that faggot right before making Zaalbar kill mission and then fucking Bastila in the ass.

You can't kill him on the jungle planet, only at the very end of the game after all the villains are owned

Yeah. Also, you won't find a non-hobbit male who is not described being tall. Every single man in Middle-earth is tall.
Also, there's one chapter in The Return of the King where he uses "lo and behold!" like 50 times. I'm not sure if it's lo and behold! since I have a translated version but he kept using it like two times on every page, no joke.
