Im a communist and I fucking hate this argument that USSR and China, Venezuela, etc, arent real socialism. I see it as the equivelant of saying that the Congo is not capitalist. They were and are real attempts at revolutionary socialist countries and they failed miserably. The challenge for modern socialists should be to see why these glaring flaws occured (a vanguard elite and restriction of personal freedoms are a good place to start looking).

Communists literally say that they have to "educate" people out of the false ideology and the false needs that capitalism creates in people, which essentially means a kind of extremely invasive social engineering, and will label and kill anyone who disagrees with it as class traitors and bourgeois subversives.
