I've only read the second book of the Border Trilogy, 'The Crossing' and I really liked it. Definitely light on the violence comparatively but had a real magic-realist epic thing going for it. I should read the others.

First of all, The Road is not considered his best novel. If anything it is considered his worst. Second, The Road is still a good novel. Third, Cormac McCarthy is the greatest living author, you should be ashamed for reading so little of his works.

Blood Meridian is considered his masterpiece by most. Although some more hardcore McCarthy fans consider Suttree his best.
