How good is your spanish?

If it's really good, go ahead with the recommendations. If it's just alright, don't read Don Quixote, the vocabulary and grammar used are archaic. If it's not that good, don't touch Garcia Marquez and Asturias, they're intricate, very much inspired by the russians.

Borges and Cortazar are really good for normal vocabulary and not that intricate prose.

Spanish as in from Spain? Or Spanish language? Because Roberto Bolano is dope AF. Powered through The Savage Detectives in a few days and was completely blown away. Currently getting through 2666 which is harder but man there are some amazing passages.

Try Aura by Carlos Fuentes. I had to read it for some class. One of the weirdest stories I've read.
