What are the equivalents to the Book of Revelations in non christian faiths?

Like the buddhist version, or the Islamic version.

>> No.821472

You mean the story of the apocalypse as seen from non-Christian perspective?

Or do you mean accounts of divine revelations by prophets?

Arent those basically the same thing?

>> No.821491

Traditional Buddhism doesn't have one. According to the Buddha, creation(and apocalypse) were unimportant because knowing about them doesn't get you any closer to enlightenment.

I see.
What about hinduism, or shinto?
Actually Im not looking for anything in particular just any account of the world ending thats nonchristian.

I would assume that Islam and Judaism share the same apocalyptic sights as in the Christian Bible, what with being Abrahamic religions and all.

no those are not the same thing.

Not really.
The christian apocalypse was written long after the death of christ and the formation of Christianity. Any Jewish notions about the apocalypse would have existed before that and I imagine the Islamic version is quite different aswell.

Probably not, considering that revelations is weird even compared to the rest of the new testament, and it was written much later than either the qur'an or the torah.

Most faiths have some sort of apocalypse. But the apocalypse is not necessarily the end of the world, often just a new beginning. Ragnarok is a good example in norse mythology

don't think shinto has a world ending myth, I may be wrong.

make that 300 years BEFORE the Koran
There are Buddist texts about the end times
but they may be hard to track down and the Hindus have a lot
look up the Kali Yuga

The apocalypse in Islam is slightly different than in Christianity. Shia, for example, believe that the 12th imam (basically the 12th hereditary successor to Muhammad) will be awakened in the End Times. They do believe that Jesus and Muhammad will also return.
