So I decided to learn Russian. What should I expect?

I'm learning their alphabet at the moment. Also, I'm a native Portuguese speaker.

How hard is to read Tolstoy in Russian? Tips are welcome.

my tip is do not learn a language if there is no real passion behind it or you will lose interest/forget it other time

I'm gonna learn some russian eventually just so i know the alphabet. For some reason, I really like the idea of learning a bunch of alphabets.

Probably so I can sound smart when I read stuff out loud even though I can't understand it at all.

Yea but spending time on one makes learning all other languages slightly easier. If you learn cases in Russian, German cases are cake and so on

OP, verbs are hard because of sheer volume, but conjugations are rather easy. Learn the present and past, and then learn a pile of nouns from one gender and start learning all of the cases, one case in one number in one gender every day or two. In a few months you'll have a solid base.

As always, prioritize auxiliary verbs, prepositions (which often accompany specific cases and should be learned with them) and daily use nouns so you can make sentences, simple statements or mini-stories throughout your day, with the goal being automatic use of grammatical structures.

Just do it anon. You can even use Tolstoy to supply your nouns and verbs.
