How do you faggots relax to read literature? I find it difficult to do so. I'm constantly reminded by the fact that could do something more productive, like studying towards exams or reading something non-fiction related. It really spoils the experience.

1. Define "productive".

2. Literature comprises fiction, and nonfiction, not just fiction.

3. One reads literature not because one thinks that it is "productive", but because one likes it, and is interested in the subject, and/or themes.

Disagree with that non fiction part but I completely agree OP. I just about cope by telling myself that people will consider me pleb if I don't read a lot so I have to do it

I have the same feeling, but I don't get it when I brows forums, porn, play video games, watch youtube for hours.

I only get the "I'm wasting my time!!" feeling when I think about reading books.

It's because they are a lot of WORK with NO REWARD. It's not that you are being "unproductive" it's that you're not actually enjoying it or getting satisfaction/fun out of reading

That's the only thing I can think of

Do you even enjoy reading? If not, simply stop reading fiction. Nobody is forcing you.
If yes, then you should definitely be able to dedicate an hour a day to do something you enjoy. You can't be "productive" all the time, you are not a machine.
