well op i haven't read anything by PKD and I've never heard of Ballard, but I think you might like Terry Goodkind's fantasy epic The Legend of the Seeker. I haven't read that one either, but I have watched the tv series, which is even more awesome! Pic related.

I haven't read any Ballard, but I really like PKD, and I'd recommend Peter Watts, particularly Blindsight.

Gibson is also good, ignore those hating haters with their hate.

I'd recommend Harlan Ellison, Heinlein, Aasimov, Greg Bear or Simmons.

These are SF-authors that I like, I love PKD and JGBallard.
