I read for the words, not for the pictures on the cover like some dumb American or to instagram my bookshelf.

Best book cover is no book cover.

You're joking, right? The obese T-shirt wearing Walmart shopping flipflops-are-real-shoes people?
Aesthetics is a European tradition. I eat for the food, doesn't mean I don't prefer a good looking plate over a slobby mess on a paper plate.

I have one of these and it's real pretty, classic feel. But when I skimmed Pond in the bookstore it seemed like trivial shite.

I'm actually reading Pond at the moment. It's very good, I think. It is very trivial, and there are bits that kind of read like the sort of book where a single woman sets her soul free with yoga, but that's kind of the point. It seems like a deconstruction of that. I would highly recommend it. It's the best take on stream of consciousness I've read in a long time

I'm not sure, I guess I can't articulate it too well. One could say that it's also an observation of boredom like some of Tao Lin's stuff is, but from a very different perspective, and (IMO) better written. Next time you're in a bookshop that has a copy give yourself a decent amount of time to read one of the longer stories.

I have the entire series; all of the covers are done in this style. Very comfy. Although truthfully there is a part of me that likes the look of a simple two-toned hardback better.

It's two people playing football. The boy/man in the foreground just scored a goal that the 'dancing man' tried to stop'.

I'm not sure how it relates to the novel, though I'm only halfway through, but I like the picture.

You can't jerk off to the book cover while enjoying the words.

Only children care about the book cover. A better thread about be about preferred font and margin size, paper quality etc

A thread discussing book covers is about as stupid as an imageboard discussing literature.

How? They're just really thick hardcovers. No good annotation, no criticism, just a really big hardcover that for some reason people think other people think it's worth money therefore it's worth money.

They do a disservice to literature. The Pokemon cards of literature.

Stupid.
