Buddhism is crap. They say you have to give up all desires, but what about the desire to become Enlightened? The striving to give up desires is all motivates by the burning desire to be Enlightened. So it's all a scam.

Becoming enlightened isn't something you can attain by wanting to attain it. Then, you're just an egotist. Granted Buddhism claims to lead to enlightenment, that isn't really your end goal when genuinely being a Buddhist. Your train of thoughts sort of walk you down the road of genuine Buddhism without even trying to adhere to the practices. Try too hard to follow the practices, and you're never going to achieve the promises of Buddhism.

The point of "desiring not to desire" is discovering that one cannot stop desiring, and further that one does not control what they desire in the first place. Buddhism is directed towards self discovery desu, and these "tasks" are the tools of discovery.
