So, do you guys put two spaces between your sentences? Throughout school, I thought that that was literally what the phrase "double spacing" meant, and now it's ingrained in me.

I used to regularly, then I stopped - I think its outdated, but it did help lengthen short essays. That and increasing the font size of periods.

Basically no one ever commented on it, and since I broke the habit its really never comes up anymore...

I obviously used the dot ironically, either mocking myself or being intentionally contradicting. Either way it was ironically put there to be pointed out by someone in order to post this explanation

The double space after a period was strictly for typewriters, computer word processing fixed it since it wont bunch up text. The people who taught two space after a period are just old folks who didn't know better and you're looked on as out of touch if you put two spaces after a period. That's not what double spacing is though, double spacing just puts a margin between each line to make it easier to write notes in it.
