Half an hour of stand up comedy from British comedian Stewart Lee on literature, books and reading.

Lee is one of the most intelligent comedians you'll see and a master of his craft. Apparantly he's read all the works of William Blake.

Thought my fellow e/lites may enjoy this.It contains references to British celebrities but I'm sure you can grasp what he's getting at.

I think he represents the general mindset here on /lit/

Enjoy!

I was hoping the girl in the picture was the comedian in the video.

Then again, if it's a female comedian, it wouldn't be worth watching.

Requesting more of the girl in OP's post.

Well it does suggest a certain level of intelligence, literacy and commitment to read all the works of arguably of the greatest poets/artist/polymaths ever.

He has a dry, snobbish wit associated with his obvious intelligence.

Cheers bro. Yeah I really want to see him live, but I missed him when he was up North.

Love lines like...

"Chris Moyles's second book is called 'The Difficult Second Book, which suggests a degree of irony and comedic self awareness absent in the text."

I like Herring but no enough to go see him. Saw Reg D. Hunter at Hi-Fi a couple of weeks back, he was awesome.

I lived in Leeds for 4 years when I was student. I live near Wakefield now. LS6 - Hyde Park,Woodhouse,Roundhay,Headingley,Burley FTW.

Only went to see Herring as it was meant to be his best show for the past few years and it was pretty good - 2nd half was very anti- BNP oriented.

I understand people not liking it or being ambivalent to it. Lee's comedy is an acquired taste.

Espeicially if your American, but I think those who do like it will love his work.

Good luck coming across The John Larroquette Show. That too had a lot of literary references because the main character was a writer himself.
