All I can write is satire. But my favorite writer is DFW. I feel like I'm failing my master, what do I do?

Be a nicer person, Lauren.

have you read his short stories? the reason i don't enjoy them is because they're too satirical. not enough humanity. probably the reason he worshiped George Saunders.

Incorporate it into your work. Make it subtle. Read some more serious fiction and get a good mix between (subtle) satire and the rest going.
Would read if done right.

What's so bad about satire and why would writing it fail DFW?

Thanks Loren.

Rafael, mine is shallow and I feel that it would be a waste of time for anyone to read ultimately. Basically im writing baby tier BEE right now and I want to move past that.

Just write until you get so bored of your style that you break out of your ironic shell

Go deeper with it and start writing Gaddis-tier satire. The Recognitions is a must-read.
